»Mould Removal in Congregational Accounts«

What will be done?

The Archives Project 2021 is intended to help preserve the oldest and most extensive newsletter of the Moravian Church, the Congregational Accounts (Gemein-Nachrichten), for the future. The magazine contains reports from Moravian congregations and from the Moravian mission and diaspora work, as well as speeches and memoirs. The newsletter continued the Jüngerhausdiarium and was published from 1765 to 1895. There are several copies of Congregational Accounts (or parts of it) extant at different places. Series A in the Unity Archives in Herrnhut, which has been used for a very long time in research, contains almost 100 handwritten volumes that unfortunately are contaminated with mould. A closer examination showed that 12 volumes from the years 1751, 1758, 1760 and 1764 can be preserved by a specific cleaning.

What do we need?

For the planned cleaning of 12 contaminated volumes of the Congregational Accounts at the Center for Book Preservation Leipzig (ZFB), we need a sum of approx. € 1,400. So we kindly ask for a donation for this project! Please help preserve series A of the Congregational Accounts of the Unity Archives. We are happy to provide a receipt upon request, simply send us your postal address. Any remaining sum will be used for other preservation measures in the Unity Archives.
