Funding Project 2020 of the Graf-Zinzendorf-Foundation
»Repackaging of the photo prints of the Mission Photo Collection (Missionsbildstelle) and the provinces of Europe and North America«
Funding Project
The Unity Archives keeps approximatly 100,000 visual representations in various collections and one larger Missions Photo Collection (Missionsbildstelle). In addition to film negatives and slides, this Mission Photo Collection also includes photo prints that are attached to labelled index cards. This extensive card index will be repackaged from the previous wooden drawers and cabinets (38 wooden boxes) into age-resistant boxes with PAT-tested protective paper between the index cards. There are two other similar, but smaller collections of images from Europe (2 boxes) and North America (2 boxes), which will also be repackaged in this manner..
Project realization
In January 2020 the Unity Archives received positive notification of funding of the planned project by the Graf-Zinzendorf-Foundation. At the beginning of February, the necessary material was purchased and the PAT tested paper was cut to size by a volunteer, and at the beginning of March the boxes were folded. After that, the repackaging of the approx. 15,000 index cards began, which was completed on June 8, 2020. We thank the volunteer for his great help. And we thank the Graf-Zinzendorf-Foundation for funding this so important work.
