Repair and restoration of seven small-format pictures from the Unity Archives

What is to be done?

With this year's Archives' Project 2023, we will be focussing on visual material from the Unity Archives. In the painting collection there are some framed small-format works in oil or pastel, but also some silhouettes and portraits in wax. We plan to repair or restore seven of the paintings. Some paintings have damaged frames or the protective glass does not fit properly in the frame. The paint layer or the wax need to be restored on others. Only persons are depicted, among them are, for example, David Cranz (1723-1777), Mariegen Burggräfin zu Dohna (1735-1784), Charlotte Marie Eleonore Freifrau von Watteville, née von Pfeil, widowed von Gersdorf (1761-1825) or Charlotte Taylor, an indigenous national helper of a Moravian minister from the Mosquito Coast.

What do we need donations for?

A sum of € 2,000 is needed for the planned repair and restoration. The restorers Gerthilde and Markus Sacher from Pesterwitz have agreed to take on the repair and restoration work.
